Evaluation Question Two
How
does your media product represent particular social groups?
The choices I made in relation to my content was I had a
competition on my magazine to win tickets to a certain tour. This will attract
the readers of my magazine as it is a very similar genre to that tour.
Therefore people will pick up my magazine as a chance to win the tickets. Also my
magazine would be targeted at mainly the ages of 13-30 obviously many of these
people will be students or in a low paid job so it is important to price the
magazine right and have it not too expensive. Having looked back at the
research I did on demographics people around this age are willing to pay around
£2 for a magazine full of good content therefore I have priced my magazine at
£2.20 which I think is very reasonable as magazines such as Kerrang and NME are
around the same price. Because my magazine is a rock magazine there would be no
point in featuring artists such as Rihanna or Lady Gaga as the target audience
of this magazine would not be interested in them. The type of bands featured
within my magazine will appeal to a large audience as there isn’t just one type
of band featured there are a lot of different bands featured to suit everyone
who is into rock music’s taste. Also the pictures that have been taken aren’t
in some fancy or posh hotel they are in just in ordinary places such as on some
stairs, in the tube, and at gigs. This way the younger audience can relate to
it as the bands are just normal kids themselves and they aren’t out spending
loads of money because they don’t really have any just like the younger generation
now-a-days.
I researched into the different social groups in society,
this way I could use the information on my magazine when it came to things like
price or how much content would be in the magazine.
